A child sitting on a bedroom rug at night, talking, as pages of a story float out of the open window toward the moon over a pond

Sayabook

Your kid tells a story out loud.
It becomes a picture book.
They send it to friends.

Real pages, painted pictures, read back in a storyteller’s voice. Every word stays theirs.

From talk to book

Nothing to learn. They talk or type and keep going. The book forms around them, a part at a time, while they write.

Timings from our tests. Pictures take longer when lots of families are writing; they keep painting if the tab closes.

While they talk

Their words appear as they speakat once

Every word stays exactly theirsalways

The Moon Fell in Our Pond

Last night the moon fell in our pond. I heard it go SPLOOSH.

Try the first page

Type the first line of a story and see it set as page one. In the app, a picture of it would start painting now.

What it does

Their words stay theirs

Nothing rewrites a story. The book lays out pages and chapters around their words. Punctuation help is a suggestion they accept or skip, and the story helper answers questions without writing for them.

Pictures that stay in character

Each character is drawn once and looks the same on every page. A kid’s own drawing can become the character.

Read aloud, word by word

A storyteller reads each page as it forms and lights each word as it’s read. Pages turn on their own. With a parent’s okay, kids can record their own reading instead.

Send it to friends

A parent makes a private link. Friends read the book and hear its pages, and nobody can change it. Stop sharing whenever you like.

What it costs

The moon bouncing back into the night sky while the boy, his dog and the frogs watch from the hill

Questions

Who is it for? Kids who love telling stories. Younger writers talk; older ones type. A parent or guardian sets it up and holds the account.

Does it write the story for them? No. Every word is theirs. The story helper answers when they ask, with feedback and labelled examples, never their story.

How long does a book take? Pages form a few seconds after a pause. Pictures take a few minutes, longer when it’s busy. They can keep writing, or come back later.

What does “about 8 books a month” mean? The plan includes a monthly amount of pictures and reading aloud, enough for about eight picture books. Writing always works, even when it’s used up.

Who can see the books? Only your family, until a parent makes a link for a book. Anyone with that link can read it and could keep a copy. You can stop sharing any time.

Is my child’s voice recorded? Talking to write turns speech into text, and we don’t keep the audio. “Read it to me” recordings are kept only if you turn them on.

Which AI does it use? Language and image models from established providers, and ElevenLabs for reading aloud. Self-hosted copies use whichever providers you choose.

Can I run it myself? Yes. It’s free and open source. Deploy it to your own Cloudflare account with your own keys; one OpenAI key is enough.

Why does it need a payment to start? The first payment also confirms you’re the parent or guardian. There’s no separate charge for that.

How do I cancel? From your account page, any time. Your books stay yours to download.
